Volunteer

All members will have opportunities to participate in chapter meetings and events to protect people locally, disrupt harmful systems, protect civic institutions, and build alternatives for a more inclusive democracy. Individuals are also invited to join us in these important work teams (training provided).

Community Care & Defense

  • Court Accompaniment: Participate as part of a team in accompanying immigrant community members to legal appointments to provide support in frightening times. Contact the lead here.
  • WA Neighborhood Defense: Participate on a team visiting local businesses and distributing materials to support their Constitutional rights. Contact the lead here.
  • Rapid Response: Participate in one of several possible roles to patrol neighborhoods, report, respond, or document ICE presence. Contact the lead here.
  • School Supports: Join neighborhood teams providing greater visibility to promote students’ safety to/from school and at events. Contact the lead here.
  • Whistle Kits: Help build and distribute whistle kits that can be used to alert others of ICE presence. Contact the lead here.

Chapter Teams

  • Safety Team: Learn and apply deescalation strategies to promote safety of participants at rallies and events. Contact the lead here.
  • Communications: Assist in crafting email, social media, and web-based content to communicate with members and the public. Contact the lead here.
  • Elections: Participate in phone- or text-banking to impact election results locally and in swing districts across the country. Contact the lead here.
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA): Contribute to plans for chapter education and community action that promote justice for all.
  • Immigration Justice: Partner with local and regional groups ensuring dignity, respect, and Constitutional rights for our immigrant community members.  Contact the lead here.
